Lebah Madu Apis dorsata atau yang dikenal dengan lebah hutan dalam bahasa Inggris dinamakan Giant Honeybees. Lebah jenis ini memang sangat besar tubuhnya jika dibandingkan dengan lebah madu lainnya, dan bahkan tercatat paling besar, meskipun gelar yang disandang ini diberikan kepada Apis dorsata laboriosa yang berada di wilayah pegunungan himalaya. Jenis yang ada di Indonesia adalah Apis dorsata binghami (Sulawesi) dan Apis dorsata dorsata (Jawa, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Bali dan Nusa Tenggara)
