Molecular Basis of Honey Contains Anti-Bacterial

Benefit of Mixture Honey and Tea
Apparently The Molecular Basis of Honey has Antibacterial Activity. Recent research released by American medical journal providing solutions that mixing green tea and honey is proven effective in lowering the disease-causing bacteria (pathogens) in the meat that we consume.

"The results of our research indicate a mixture of jasmine tea and honey, or a mixture of green tea and honey, has a high microbial activity," said lead researcher Daniel Fung, a professor at Kansas State University.

The study was conducted in a liquid medium by using the tea extract and honey are proven to reduce the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes and E. coli O157: H7. Listeria is a harmful bacteria found in raw milk, ice cream, soft cheeses, raw fish and meat / smoke. In liquid medium, so it is easy to interact with components of the organism.

Researchers also investigated the solids, which include the type of medium that is difficult to find the reaction components that hinder the development of pathogenic bacteria.

In this study, researchers used thin slices of turkey breast meat, which was a mixture of jasmine tea and honey thick, the result Listeria monocytogenes bacteria levels dropped 10 to 20 percent, the same percentage was also found when a mixture of tea and honey used on hot dogs. Highest reduction levels found in hot dogs that contain sodium lactate, potassium lactate and sodium diacetate.

"In that type of hot dog mixture of tea and honey can suppress the growth of pathogens, rather than hot dogs that do not contain these components," said Fung, adding that the hot dog is still experiencing a reduction of pathogens after 14 day trial period.

For health reasons Fung recommend tea as a beverage must be consumed every day, especially for those who like to eat meat and raw vegetables for obtaining alloys include tea and honey when you process the food that will be eaten raw.

"Get used to using the tea and honey to wash raw meat to get rid of foreign components that are harmful to health. And it would be better if you use natural ingredients instead of using lactic acid, "said Fung. Recent research released by American medical journal providing solutions that mixing green tea and honey is proven effective in lowering the disease-causing bacteria (pathogens) in the meat that we consume.

Honey is a multifunctional product that is produced by bees. There are so many uses of honey as a medicine or as a woman's skin care products.

However, there are more benefits of honey is no less important. The scientists, as reported from the pages of the Times of India said there is a secret ingredient in honey that can kill bacteria.

They have found that bees make a protein contained in the honey it produces, called defensin-1. These proteins can be used to treat burns and skin infections and to develop new drugs that could combat antibiotic-resistant infections.

"Molecular basis of honey has antibacterial activity as a medical grade honey, honey is believed to act as a medicine," said Sebastian AJ Zaat, a researcher involved in the work of the Department of Medical Microbiology at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam.

"Honey derived from isolated components have good grades for the prevention and treatment of infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria," he adds.

In the research process, Zaat and the team investigate the antibacterial activity of medical-grade honey in test tubes against a panel of antibiotic-resistant, disease-causing bacteria.

They developed a method to selectively neutralize the existing antibacterial factors in honey and determine their individual antibacterial contributions. Finally, the researchers isolated the defensin-1 protein, which is part of the honey bee immune system and is added by honeybees.

After analysis, the scientists concluded, most of the antibacterial properties of honey come from protein.

This information can also be useful for producing honey bees, because it can be used solely by the bees immune systems that make them more healthy.
